Eclectic new shop ricochets from Old West to France By Mark Wheeler / Hi-Desert Star Friday, February 23, 2007 JOSHUA TREE - Probably the only place in the Basin where you can get a New York Times, new-kid-on-the-block Ricochet in Joshua Tree is cornering more than just the Hi-Desert market for the Big Apple's daily. The little shop is eclectic, to say the least; maybe French-western would be the best way to describe its theme, although it doesn't take more than a minute on the premises to realize that "theme" isn't one of Ricochet's priorities. What comes to mind in the cozy little space and in the midst of an inventory that ricochets from fine wine to fancy cowboy boots is, "originally intimate." Greek olives, creamy cheeses and plump scones share the space with vintage western wear and local handcrafted artifacts. An exhibit of homespun kitchen aprons decorates the walls above the retail floor. For more of this story, click on or type the URL below: http://www.hidesertstar.com
